Who is a good candidate?

The best candidates are men and women between the age of 30 and 90 years of age who have familial lid & brow drop and excess skin around the eyes. Asian eyelids can be lifted with or without a fold.

How long is my recovery?

Recovery after outpatient surgery is relatively rapid. Stitches are removed at 4-7 days most bruising clears after 7-10 days, with swelling subsiding after 10-20 days.

What are the complications?

Surgery is generally safe. As with all procedures same risks exist. Bruising can occur, but usually goes away quickly. All faces are uneven and Dr. Lyon will attempt to make both eyes similar, but save asymmetry is natural. Total symmetry (doll's face) appears unnatural and is avoided. Eyelid closure may be difficult afterwards exacerbating dry eye. This usually resolves as healing occurs. Serious problems are rare, with vision loss being less than 1 in 5000. Infection and scars occur infrequently outside the lid folds.
